Kalavasos–Tenta is a Neolithic settlement founded around 7000 BCE. It stands on a low hill and is now protected by a large modern conical roof. Beneath this shelter, the ancient house foundations can be viewed as a single archaeological area.
The inhabitants of Tenta built round and oval houses from stone and mud brick. The most unusual discovery is connected with a wall painting showing human figures with raised arms. The original is extremely fragile, so at the site it is important to look not only for the surviving walls but also for the information panels and reconstructions that help visitors understand the painting.
This stop is particularly useful for comparing two periods: the circles of the ancient houses beneath the triangular silhouette of the modern protective structure. A child can immediately distinguish the archaeological remains from what specialists added in order to preserve them.
