Famagusta Gate, now used as a cultural centre, was one of the principal entrances to old Nicosia.
The Venetians built the walls in the sixteenth century on the site of earlier fortifications constructed by the Franks in the fourteenth century.
At the site we focus on specific reference points: the three passages, the long vault, the dome and incoming light, and the Venetian wall.
