Venetian period · sixteenth century
In our early chronology, the tower was accidentally placed in the twelfth-century section. We have now corrected its position: official material assigns the watchtower near Kiti and Pervolia to the Venetian period.
The tower formed part of a coastal observation system. Three coats of arms are visible above the raised entrance; in the centre is the winged Lion of Saint Mark, symbol of the Venetian Republic.
For children this is an excellent observation activity: find the lion, sword and coats of arms, and work out why the original entrance was not at ground level.

We corrected the period using the official Visit Cyprus route “Venice in Cyprus”.
