Twentieth century
The women’s monastery stands near the village of Kampia. Its foundation is associated with Archbishop Makarios III and the twentieth century.
During our visit the gates were closed and visitors had to ring a bell to enter. In the photograph the complex can be seen from a distance on the top of the hill.
At the site we focus on specific reference points: the bell beside the closed gate, the hilltop complex, Makarios III, and the rhythm of the windows.
