Eighteenth century
The museum preserves the setting of the house in which the dragoman Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios lived. We explain the role of a dragoman as an intermediary between the Greek community and the Ottoman administration.
The rooms display eighteenth-century tableware, furniture, carpets and textiles; the formal reception room also survives.
We particularly remember a “Night at the Museum”: the house remained open until midnight, with music, dancing and refreshments in the courtyard.
