Fifteenth century
Saint Panteleimon of Achera Monastery originated in the late Byzantine or early Ottoman period; the present church was restored in 1770, as an inscription above the entrance records.
Saint Panteleimon lived during the reign of Emperor Maximian. He became a physician, converted to Christianity and treated the sick. He was tortured for his faith; according to tradition, milk flowed from the wound after his beheading.
Inside the church we look for the date 1770, the icons of the principal tier and the attributes of the physician saint—a medicine box, a small spoon or a cross. Outside, the pitched roof, stone masonry and covered entrance are clearly visible.
