Active monastery; the history of the complex and local traditions belong to different periods
The monastery lies between Mosfiloti and Pyrga, on the right-hand side of the road. In our early notes its foundation was dated to 1471, while the earliest known documentary evidence belongs to the eighteenth century; we continue to clarify this history.
A tradition concerning Saint Helena is associated with the monastery: while travelling through Cyprus she suffered from thirst and asked God to show her water. The spring is directly beneath the church, and water is also channelled outside.
Our photographs preserve a stone inscription, the arcade, the entrance to the spring and the inner courtyard with monastic cells.
