Twelfth century
The monastery stands above the Kouris River near the village of Monagri, below the road from Limassol to Troodos. It was founded in the twelfth century, later fell into abandonment and was restored at the end of the twentieth century.
At the centre is a twelfth-century church with frescoes dating from the twelfth to the fifteenth centuries. During restoration, as we first recorded it, a large bronze bowl containing coins was found; 824 of them belonged to the Lusignan period.
A tall three-storey building with monastic cells surrounds the church. The monastery has small hermitages; one is dedicated to Saint Sergius of Radonezh, and lower down by the river there is a revered spring.
